PSMA Established as a Representative Organization
PSMA was registered in Nov. 1964, established as a representative organization of all Sugar Mills in Pakistan. Its memorandum was signed in 1964 by 4 mills in East Pakistan and 4 Sugar Mills of West Pakistan namely Premier, Kohinoor, Habib and Crescent.
The first meeting of the representatives of the sugar industry was held on 30th Aug.1964 at Ambassador Hotel, Lahore under the chairmanship of Taj Muhammad Khanzada where appointment of functionaries, opening of Bank Account, appointment of auditors and other resolutions took place.

Suger Varieties

SugerCane
Pakistan occupies an important position in sugar world, as it ranks on 6th position in cane acreage and production and has 14th position in sugar production. However cane yield of the country is very low, that with 48 tha-1 yield it stands on 47th position amongst 105 cane growing countries.

Gur or Jaggery
Gur or Jaggery is still produced in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and many other countries. It is a traditional product consumed directly in unrefined condition this type of sugar is a concentrated product of cane juice without separation of molasses and crystals, and can vary in colour from golden brown to dark brown.
